Welcome, Julie Sloane.

Julie started as a bather in 2018 and spent a year and a half at the tub before going to grooming school in 2020. She's kept training ever since. Find her at the Vero Beach salon on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Our standards

Florida doesn't license dog groomers. We hold ourselves to a standard anyway.

There are no state rules for pet grooming, so we set our own. Our groomers take continuing education every year and hold AKC S.A.F.E. certification. We use pro-grade tools and keep the salon clean and safe.

Grooming is more than making a dog look cute. It's about trust, knowledge and a loving touch.

New clients

First visit? Three things before you come in.

Getting these done ahead of time keeps drop-off quick and your dog's wait short.

  1. Send rabies proof

We need proof of a current rabies shot for dogs over 16 weeks. Puppies need two rounds of starter shots. Bring it in, or have your vet email it to:

  2. Fill out the new client form

Tell us about your dog's coat, health and habits so your groomer is ready.

  3. Call to book

Ask about your groomer's days if you'd like someone specific.

We can only groom dogs that are used to being handled and groomed on a regular basis. This keeps your dog and our groomers safe. Most puppies start around 14 weeks, once their puppy shots are done.

Questions pet parents ask

Frequently asked questions

Don't see yours? Call either salon. We like helping you understand what happens at the groomer, ours or anyone's.

Do you groom any breed?

Yes, within the weight limit. Vero Beach grooms dogs 30 lb and under. Sebastian grooms dogs up to 55 lb. We know every breed-standard cut and also do doodle-specific haircuts.

Why do you have a weight limit?

Grooming is physical work. A groomer lifts 150 to 300 lb of dog in a normal day. The limit keeps our groomers healthy enough to do this for their whole career.

How often should my dog be groomed?

Most dogs do best every 4 to 8 weeks. That keeps the coat, nails, ears and skin in good shape. Doodles and thick-coated dogs often need the shorter end of that range.

Why does my dog shake at drop-off?

Grooming is work for your dog too. They stand in the tub, stand to dry and balance on three legs while we do nails and paws. The salon is loud with dryers, clippers and other dogs, which is a lot for a dog used to a quiet house.

Some dogs also feel separation anxiety, since the groomer may be the only time they're away from you. The best thing you can do is stay calm and confident at drop-off. Your dog reads your mood. We give dogs breaks during the groom so they can settle.

Why do nail trims matter so much?
  • Long nails press on the nail bed and hurt when your dog walks.
  • Short nails give better grip and less strain on joints.
  • Untrimmed, the quick grows longer and makes future trims harder.
  • Long nails can bend the toes and change how your dog walks.
  • They also trap dirt, scratch floors and scratch people.
Why do doodles and thick coats cost more?

A thick coat takes longer at every step. Tangles and mats in a dense undercoat take time to work out. Bathing uses more water and shampoo. Drying takes longer because the undercoat holds water. Many need a full deshed with rakes or blades.

The coat also has to be fully brushed out and tangle-free before a clipper attachment can go through it. More time and more effort means a higher price.
